July Trivia:
July is the seventh month of the year in the gregorian calendar and one of seven
Gregorian months with the length of 31 days. It is, on average, the warmest month
in most of the Northern hemisphere (where it is the second month of summer)and the
coldest month in much of the Southern hemisphere The second half of the year
commences in July. In the Southern Hemisphere, July is the seasonal
equivalent of January in the Northern Hemisphere.
In the Northern hemisphere:
Dog days begin in early July, when the hot sultry weather of summer usually starts.
Summer school is under way for many students.
Spring lambs, born in late winter or early spring, are usually sold before July 1.
Previously, it was called Quintilis in Latin.since it was the fifth month in the ancient Roman
calendar before January became the first month of the calendar year (the year which
displayed as twelve months in order) during the time of the decemvirs about 450 BC.
In the ancient Roman calendar the ides of July fell on the 15th day of the month.
July starts on the same day of the week as April every year, and January in leap years.
The birthstone for July is a red ruby which symbolizes contentment. A ruby is a pink to
blood-red gemstone. The red color is caused mainly by the presence of the element
chromium. Other varieties of gem-quality corundum are called sapphires. The ruby is
considered one of the four precious stones, together with the sapphire, the emerald,
and the diamond. Prices of rubies are primarily determined by color. The brightest
and most valuable "red" called pigeon blood-red, commands a huge premium
over other rubies of similar quality. After color follows clarity: similar to diamonds,
a clear stone will command a premium, but a ruby without any needle-like
rutile inclusions may indicate that the stone has been treated. Cut and
carat(weight) also determine the price. Its birth flower is the Water lily
The horoscopes are Cancer (June 21 - July 22). and LEO (July 23-August 22)
